It's Whale Season again! August - October 2016

Every year we are blessed with a spectacular show. The humpback whales (along with other types of whales) raise and train their young in the warm, tropical waters of the Costa Ballena (Whale Coast).  It is a interesting coincidence that they come to Marino Ballena National Park, specifically around the "Whale's Tail" formation and Isla Ballena (Whale Island).   The reason they come specifically to our area is because of the calm waters and the perfect water temperatures.

At this time of the year, every year, we see the whales learning to survive, jumping, splashing, swimming and exploring.  What an incredible site to see.  If you want to go whale watching, just let us know and we will arrange it for you with a company we trust.   A normal tour costs $65 and includes park entrance to Marino Ballena National Park, Snorkeling and a trip past Ventanas Caves.  They will also search for dolphins and turtles as well as the magnificent whales.  If you come during the weekends of September 3-4 or 10-11, you will be here for the annual Festival de las Ballenas (Whale Festival).  The entire town of Uvita celebrates this amazing show with discounted (and shortened) tours and parties everywhere.
